Spring is coming
As I sit in the office typing this, sunshine is spilling across the daffodils and the primroses are just beginning to show their faces. It feels like the start of something hopeful. Spring is often one of the very best times to enjoy an Easter break in North Devon, and here at Spreacombe the season is quietly magical making early March, now, fun of hope and promise.
With Easter falling early this year, our woodlands should be glowing yellow with primroses when we open for guests. The bluebells and wild garlic will follow after (always depending on what the weather decides to do),something to look out for if you visit in late April / May.
Spring on the Farm
The wild geese are currently back on the lake so we are hopeful for wild goslings again. Often we have wild ducklings too, I haven't seen the duck this year so far but they all know where we are.
More predictably, (hopefully), the sheep are due to begin lambing over Easter. If all goes to plan, there should be newborn lambs in the fields which is always a favourite sight for families enjoying a spring farm stay in North Devon.
When you see us, do ask which lambs are the youngest; we are always happy to share what’s happening with our guests. Quick plea, at this time of year we do ask our doggy guests to be especially careful near the sheep, but we ourselves are dog-friendly so we can point you to lots of great walks in North Devon, we are fortunate to have plenty of wonderful walks and long runs nearby.
Gardens, Coast & Easter Days Out
For those who love colour, the camellias will be in full bloom in a couple of weeks time both at Marwood Hill Gardens and at RHS Garden Rosemoor. I know that Rosemoor are also running an "Easter detectives, who framed the Easter Bunny" event for children over Easter.
Of course, a stay at Spreacombe also means you are perfectly placed for the coast. The wide sandy beaches of Woolacombe are just a short drive away, making us ideal for a spring break near Woolacombe. Bracing sea air, big skies and quieter sands make Easter a lovely time before the height of summer.
A Peaceful Easter Stay Near Woolacombe
Spreacombe always offers peaceful self-catering accommodation in North Devon, just away from the busier village areas; tucked away in the countryside yet close to beaches, coastal walks and Exmoor. Our EV charging point was well received last year and of course our countryside location makes car parking so much easier than in the towns.
