North Devon Beaches

Award Winning

We are so pleased that Woolacombe has won the Trip Advsior Best beach award for 2 years running

Surfing and Beach Games

The North Devon beaches are ideal for beginner and experienced surfers alike. Many of our guests, of all ages, try out surfing for the first time, they usually take lessons with one of the local surf schools. These have instructors in the water with you advising and directing with the "standing up" technique.

Being long and sandy, the beaches lend themselves perfectly to most beach games. If you walk the length of Woolacombe beach it is very rare not to see a competitive game being played. Equally as the beach is so big, this game is very unlikely to be disturbing whatever activity or relaxation you have planned.

Family Friendly Beaches

For a traditional family holiday, it is difficult to beat the beaches of Woolacombe / Putsborough.  The sand is ideal for building castles, there is space to set your family area out and both beaches have small shops for purchasing beach items or food and drink.

Rock Pooling

For rock pooling, we believe that the best beach is Saunton. The extensive rock formation on the right hand side (when the tide is out) has lots of pools with lots of interesting finds.

Dog friendly beaches

The local beaches have areas that allow dogs and those that don't, hopefully allowing everyone to have a great holiday.

Woolacombe and Saunton beaches both have "no dogs" to the right, "dogs on lead" on the immediate left and "dogs running free" farther to the left.   This allows your dog to have a lengthy run and swim while you have a good walk (the beaches are about 2 miles long) leaving families with smaller children to picnic and play games in peace.
