Wildlife

Bluebells are abundant in the spring both our woods and in Chapel Wood, one of North Devon's RSPB reserves.

Amongst other spring wildlife we have daffodils and primroses in the woods and in summer, meadow butterflies and shimmering dragonflies near our pond.

Deer frequently cross from field to woodland. You may be fortunate enough to spot them but they are particulary tricky to photograph as they don't hang around to make friends.

Henry Hare, or is it Henrietta frequents Mill Meadow, often just crouching in the grass to see if you have noticed.

Head down to our ponds and you can often see varieties of wild fowl, heron, dragon flies and occassionally wild trout.

and the Peacock...... Well he has been on the Estate for over 10 years now.  Many of our guests have named him and look forwards to his visits. He is wild but fed seeds on daily basis so doesn't tend to wander far.  Here he can be seen showing off to one of our old hens, she wasn't at all impressed.
