Holiday cottages, near Woolacombe. A restful retreat in North Devon, minutes from the coast

Family Run, Self Catering Holiday Cottages

We are proud to say that nearly half of our guests return for another visit.

Many say that as soon as they drive though the stone Estate gateway they feel more relaxed , away from the hustle of home.

Many of our guests enjoy the walks that we have on our doorstep in the woods or fields, or the fact that their children can play safely in our garden area whilst they plan their day.  Some guests enjoy the wildlife that we have on our doorstep whilst others head off to the beach for some fun. Whatever your holiday choices we will be happy to see you at Spreacombe.

Our private woodland walks are looking stunning as I write this, the bluebells are out and the primroses still holding. Our regular guests will be pleased to see that the peacock is looking grand.  The lambs are in the field with their mothers and the birds in full song. James thinks he heard a cookoo this week but I am still listening. We'd love to see you if you fancy an escape to the country / beach.

Dog friendly holiday cottages near Woolacombe .... or just a holiday with great walks

We feel that the Spreacombe Valley is a great place to stay if you want to be surrounded by countryside and have good walks from your doorstep.

We can recommend heading up the stony track (behind Azalea) for an easy evening walk, a gradual uphill with woodland on either side of you. In the other direction we have two ponds that we personally love walking around. There are often duck and heron to be seen.

If you can tear yourself away from Spreacombe, the beaches are a 10 minute drive with clearly allocated “dog friendly”, “dogs on lead” or “no dogs” areas. Wide sandy expanses for a long walk, Woolacombe itself is over 2 miles long, excellent for a gallop, or ball game or long walk with the sea on one side and dunes on the other.

Please note that Clematis is kept strictly dog free.

6 Holiday Cottages set in a private estate

         - One of the things that our guests love is the peace and space we have around with our private woods, ponds and fields and yet the beach is only just over the hill.

We would love to see you so please get in touch / look at our availability page.

In the main season we have a Saturday changeover but I am happy to have arrivals on any day of the week outside of this as long as it suits our calendar.

Family Friendly Holiday

Your holiday cottage is set in the 450-acre grounds of Spreacombe Estate, near Woolacombe, North Devon. Famliies are welcome to explore either our private woodland or the adjacent  RSPB wood.  We offer easy access to North Devon's extensive coastline, with the golden sandy beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde only a ten-minute drive. This, together with the peace and quiet of our countryside location, brings visitors back to our holiday cottages year after year.

Inside Spreacombe Cottages

Our cottages either sleep 4 or 5 guests but are often taken in the quiet season by just a couple who are escaping the faster pace of their “real life”.

Each cottage has 3 or 4 bedrooms, a living / dining area and a well equipped kitchen. Often guests come together but take different properties.  Guests usually comment on how well equipped our kitchens are, some like to bring a BBQ and others enjoy eating out.

We have a large shared lawn that the children congregate on in the school holidays but in term time it is more likely to just have the peacock relaxing there.

Holiday in North Devon

Should you wish to leave the peace and tranquility of our valley, the area offers something for everyone.

The villages of Georgeham, Croyde and Braunton have cafes and restaurants to suit most tastes.

The beach at Woolacombe is over 2 miles long and ideal for families. Dog walkers will find that they can stretch their legs walking all the way to Putsborough at the other end of the beach but for a family walk I would personally prefer the coastal paths with the stunning views and opportunities to spot seal.

Take a look at the website, we have suggested some of our favourite things in the area.

Woodland Retreat

A haven of peace and quiet.

Spend some time when you are here and walk through the fields and woodland. Woody was spotted by one of our guests one May;  we rushed out with our camera's to wait for some fun pictures. T he sheep are characters, on location all the time, more fleeting visitors are deer and hare.

Down by the pond you occasionally see fish jumping, but equally you may spot the heron, a magnificent bird but with no interest in fish preservation.
