Walks

One of the pleasures of Spreacombe are the varied walks on your doorstep. For the gentle pre dinner stroll we would suggest wandering up our stony road that splits the woodland. In the Spring this area is awash with primroses, daffoldils and bluebells.

Slightly farther, (10 minute walk one way) but definitely worth the effort is the RSPB Chapel Wood ; we have our own entrance from Mill Meadow. The remains of the Chapel, preserved by the RSPB, can be seen on the left hand side as you enter the wood. Go through the small gate to the right, there is a lovely walk all around the wood, although beware there many steps to the top.

Also from Mill Meadow are our ponds. Walk quietly as this area is good for wildlife. We usually have wild fowl on the pond and hares living in the surrounding woodland.

We have created a path around the ponds, through Georgeham Fields and back to the cottages via Chapel Wood. This circuit will take from 40 minutes.

For the very keen walkers it is possible to walk to Woolacombe beach, maybe have lunch in one of the lovely cafes and return. This walk is at least 1 hour each way and there is a large hill on the way back - so not for the faint hearted.  However, I have known guests split their resources such that some drive and others walk and then all return in the car.
