Out & About

Devon Cream Tea

We suggest that you should try a Devon cream tea whilst on your holiday here in North Devon.  In Devon, the cream is always put on the scone before the jam, unlike other parts of the country. If its good weather we like the Sandleigh tea garden and rooms in Croyde, on the way to Baggy Point.

Arlington Court

...is our local National Trust property. This is a large Georgian house with a carriage museum in the grounds.

RHS Rosemoor

...is definitely worth a visit if you are interested in gardens

Childrens Theme Parks

We have a few of these in the area, fliers for which are in all supermarkets, garages and T.I centres. We like the Big Sheep, a good mix of animals to look at and feed, rides and educational talks.

Days Out in North Devon (from Spreacombe)

If you can drag yourself away from the relaxation of Spreacombe and have already spent a day on the beach, the area offers too many attractive days out for us to do justice to the area, but to whet your appetite please read on..

Mortehoe

...is a really pretty village and right next to a dramatic piece of coast line. The National Trust owns the coasts path that winds around Morte Point - a walk that you can extend as much as you like.

...and if you see a Hockin's Icecream van in North Devon, we can highly recommend trying the locally made icecream.

Clovelly

...is a preserved cobbled street leading to a small harbour.  Well worth the wander down but harder on the legs than you would expect. You may need a pub lunch when you reach the harbour.

Lynton and Lynmouth

...two other well visited villages. Lynmouth is at sea level with a water powered (Victorian) cliff railway available to take you up the cliff to Lynton.  The Valley of Rocks is also in this area.

Ilfracombe

One of our local villages, one that attracts mixed views, but I like it.

The harbour area is very pretty and the place to head to if you want to take a fishing trip, or pleaseure boat trip. Standing proud in this area is "Verity", Damien Hirst's Scupture that he donated to the area.
